Julie was born and raised in Cornwall. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Science, Human Kinetics Degree in 1999. She then attended Queen’s University in 2007 to pursue her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. During her studies, she gained experience in a variety of fields including musculoskeletal conditions, pediatrics, chronic pain and cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
Prior to her Physiotherapy career, Julie worked as a Kinesiologist delivering exercise programs and physiotherapy treatments in a private physiotherapy clinic under the direction of the physiotherapist.
Just prior to pursuing her physiotherapy degree, she also worked at a local long term care facility aiding the physiotherapist in planning and modifying exercise programs based on the individual’s’s level of functioning. Additionally, she was responsible for supervising and designing entertaining and appropriate group exercise classes with the residents.
Upon completion of her Physiotherapy Masters, Julie's Physiotherapy career started in delivering Geriatric Care in a Long Term Care Facility. Her main goal with the residents was to maintain mobility and function through individualized exercise programs. Additionally, she helped the resident’s with pain relief, respiratory issues, assistive devices, and was responsible for educating and supervising the physiotherapy assistants.
At the Active Sport Physiotherapy Clinic, she currently offers Orthopedic and Sport Injury Care, Manual Therapy, and Acupuncture. Additionally, Julie has recently become a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and is very excited to now offer Complete Decongestive Therapy to the residents of Cornwall and area.
